There is a common misconception that there isn’t any suitable family adventure trip in Nepal. Because for most adventure enthusiasts, Nepal redirects to Everest Base Camp Trek. Debunking the myth, we’ve included the best packages suitable for families looking for a modest adventure.
Our Family Adventure Trip – Poon Hill Trek with Seti river rafting and Chitwan Jungle Safari is perfect for all ages. The trip begins with a visit to the historic and UNESCO world heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu, the former kingdom of the Newar people, is rich in heritage and is a hotpot of cultural diversity.
After a short flight to Pokhara, the touristic lake city west of Kathmandu, we visit some key places of interest. The next day we wake up to a spectacular view of the Himalayan range from the viewpoint of Sarangkot.
After 2 days in Pokhara, we start the Poon Hill trek by driving to Kimche and then trek to Ghandruk. The trek offers one of the best views of the fluted peak of Machhapuchhre (6,993m) along with Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m). Accommodation is comfortable in family-run trekkers’ lodges, mostly run by the Gurung people, natives of the region.
The highlight of the trek is the sunrise over the horizon at the vantage point of Poon Hill. But the trail is beautiful with picturesque villages, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys. The trek is easy to moderate with some steep ascents and descents.
Family Adventure Trip in Nepal is perfect for active families with pre-teen children or senior citizens who love the outdoors.
After the trek, we embark on a 2-day fun-filled rafting adventure on the Seti Khola river – with an added bonus of camping on the beach on the first day and then indulging in the luxurious resort in Chitwan. The Chitwan jungle safari experience is thrilling yet enlightening with a cascade of activities like the cultural dance program of the native Tharu people, bird watching tour, boating in the river, elephant breeding center informational tour, jeep safari, etc.
