Overview

The Island Peak and Ama Dablam Expedition combination offers the rare chance to climb two legendary Himalayan peaks in one seamless journey. Island Peak (6,189m) serves as the ideal acclimatization climb before attempting the stunning and technical Ama Dablam (6,812m), one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.

Supported by a highly experienced Sherpa team, this 32-day journey includes all logistics, from Kathmandu hotels and domestic flights to high camp gear and climbing permits. Designed for climbers with previous high-altitude trekking or climbing experience, this expedition maximizes your summit success rate while delivering an unforgettable adventure.

 

Itinerary

Airport pickup and transfer to hotel. Expedition briefing.

Final gear inspection, shopping, and permit formalities.

30-minute scenic flight; 3–4 hrs trek.

Enter Sagarmatha National Park. 5–6 hrs trek.

Hike to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung. Return to Namche.

Trek to Debuche (3,820m) via Tengboche Monastery

Trek to Dingboche (4,410m)

Great views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, Lhotse

Trek to Chhukung (4,730m)

Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (5,100m)

Alpine start. 10–12 hours round trip.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. You must have prior experience trekking at altitude and ideally some basic climbing knowledge (use of crampons, harness, etc.). Island Peak helps prepare you for Ama Dablam’s technical terrain.

Ama Dablam is a technical peak and not to be underestimated. However, with experienced Sherpa support and careful acclimatization (including Island Peak), the risk is significantly managed. You must follow the guide’s instructions at all times.

You’ll need personal equipment such as double mountaineering boots, crampons, climbing harness, ice axe, down suit/jacket, sleeping bag (-20°C or colder), etc. We’ll provide a full gear checklist after booking.

Yes, personal climbing gear can be rented in Kathmandu or Namche. We can help arrange this.

You should follow a structured training plan 3–6 months before the climb, focusing on cardio, strength, and endurance. Trekking with a weighted backpack on steep terrain is essential.

Most villages have Wi-Fi for a small fee. Base Camps may have limited or satellite communication only. A satellite phone is available for emergencies.

Yes. Insurance covering helicopter evacuation, medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and up to 7,000m altitude is required to join this expedition.
