Permit / Garbage Fees

Most trekking and adventure activities in Nepal require official permits issued by the Government of Nepal. These permits help regulate tourism, protect natural areas, and support local conservation efforts.

Trekking Permits

Depending on the trekking region, travelers may require one or more of the following permits:

  • TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
  • National Park Permit or Conservation Area Permit (such as ACAP, MCAP, etc.)
  • Restricted Area Permit (RAP) for specific regions

Permit requirements vary by trekking route and region.

Garbage (Environmental) Fees

In certain trekking and climbing regions, a garbage deposit or environmental fee may be required. This system ensures responsible waste management and environmental protection. The refundable deposit is returned after verification that all non-biodegradable waste has been properly brought back.

Fees & Payment

  • Permit and garbage fees are subject to government regulations and may change without prior notice.
  • Fees vary by region, nationality, and trip duration.
  • Permits are usually arranged before the trip through authorized trekking agencies.

Important Notes

  • Travelers must carry original permits during the trip and present them at checkpoints.
  • Trekking without valid permits is illegal and may result in fines or trip cancellation.
  • Permit and garbage fees are generally not refundable.
